About Trio Burlesco
Trio Burlesco was founded in the beginning of 2004 by Arno Stoffelsma (clarinet), Saskia Plagge (cello) and Cathelijne Noorland (piano). Both Saskia and Arno had performed many times with Cathelijne when they came up with the idea to form a trio.
After working for a short time the ensemble already won the audition for a concert tour organized by “Stichting Muziek in Huis”. This tour took them to many small venues in the Netherlands. In 2006 the trio won the audition for the “Debuut” concert series which took them to all the main venues in The Netherlands, including the Concertgebouw.
Although there are only a couple of well-known composers who wrote music for this combination, like Beethoven and Brahms, there is a lot of beautiful music written for this trio by lesser known composers. The Trio Burlesco takes great interest in contemprrary Dutch music and recently the young talented Dutch composer Max Knigge wrote a piece specially for the Trio Burlesco.
